LifeAct Takes On The Cleveland International Film Festival

LifeAct was honored to be a nonprofit sponsor of "Ghostlight" (2024) for this year's Cleveland International Film Festival. The film tells a powerful story of losing a family member to suicide and the unexpected path leading to healing and acceptance. Our Advancement & Marketing Coordinator, Vicki Jeromos (left), Ambassador and former LifeAct instructor Elaine Myers (middle), and Board member Jenny Burke (right) attended the April 12 screening at the KeyBank State Theater in Playhouse Square.

Elaine said of her experience watching the film: “As a survivor, I expected the evening to be tearful. It did touch many emotions, the most surprising of which was hearty laughter. I could teach a 6-8 week class using only this film. I found myself wishing it wouldn't end. I wanted to spend more time with the characters I had met.”

"Live theater serves a therapeutic role for the actors involved in “Ghostlight,” an emotional “let’s put on a show”-style indie that, fittingly enough, came together during last year’s actors strike. The sensitive — but also considerably more conservative — follow-up project for “Saint Frances” screenwriter Kelly O’Sullivan and co-director (and partner) Alex Thompson celebrates the healing power of art, as a family shaken by its eldest son’s suicide uses a community theater production of “Romeo and Juliet” to work through emotions they haven’t been able to discuss openly at home." - Variety
